Access Statement For Lodge Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast
Broad Chalke, Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs and comfort of all the guests staying at our farmhouse, which has three bedrooms available. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to contact us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-Arrival
- We advise guests that, because of our rural location, they will need their own vehicle, bicycle or horse. Public transport is remote and infrequent. Guests for weddings in the locality may wish to use a local taxi service.
- Brochures and menus can be provided in large print by prior arrangement.
- Our website conveys our full service and will help in displaying our rooms. It also contains an on-line booking facility, but for those who have particular needs we recommend that bookings should be made by e-mail or by telephone, so that these may be recognized and may be met wherever possible.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- We strongly recommend that guests arriving for the first time should print off the "directions" page from our website. It gives clear instructions and a map, as well as our post code and bearings for sat/nav and GPS.
- In-drive parking bays are provided on a tarmac surface with a gentle slope. From the driveway, one entrance is down one 130mm step and the other is down three 130mm steps.
- Assistance with luggage can be given.
Main Entrance & Reception
- There are two entrances: one to the B&B wing with its double room (no 2) and its twin room (no 3), whilst the other entrance serves one double room (no 1) which is within the main part of the house. Both entrances are lit by heat sensitive halogen floodlights
- The entrance to the B&B wing is 680mm wide with stepless entry into a level stone floored passage leading to the breakfast room.
- The entrance for the double room (No1) in the main part of the house is 860mm wide with an 80mm step into a large carpeted hall.
- Public Areas - General (Internal)
- The stone-floored passage (1.2m wide) from the entrance door opens into the breakfast room with no doorway and together they serve as the reception. It may also be used in the evening, as a working area for laptops etc as the room is Wi-Fi enabled.
- A 13 step staircase (78mm wide) to the two bedrooms (Nos 2&3) lies to the left immediately inside the entrance door and turns through 90 degrees within the first four steps. A banister post is on the upward RH, while the remaining 9 steps of straight stairway have a banister on the upward RH.
- Double room No. 1 is on the 2nd floor and is therefore up two flights of stairs, of 14 steps (880mm wide) and 12 steps (86 mm wide), respectively. The two landings are well lit.
- All stairs have 200mm risers, 250mm flats and are fully carpeted.
Public Areas - WC
Bedrooms are all en-suite and so public no WC is required.
Breakfast Room
The breakfast room has a single oval table that can seat 8 people. It has a 620 mm under-clearance with solid armless chairs with their seats at 450mm.
Laundry
Laundry facilities are not available, other than the use of a tumble dryer for walkers' outdoor cloths, on request. Ironing facilities are available on request

Outdoor Facilities
Our guests enjoy the south-facing terrace, with its wicker outdoor chairs and unmatched views. It has double door access from the breakfast room with a 50mm step down. A further step down of 160 mm to a lower level allows access to an outdoor table with sunshade and chairs. From here, there is level access to the lawn.

Bedrooms
- There are 3 bedrooms; a double room (No.1) on the second floor of the main part of the farmhouse, a double room (No.2) on the first floor of the B&B wing and a twin room (No.3) on the same floor.
- All have en-suite facilities.
- None have wheelchair access.
- None are suitable for babies or young children, given the low level window sills. No provision is made for infants, but children of 12 years and over are welcome.
- All rooms have adjustable radiators and all have a small fridge for fresh milk (or for medication) storage. All have in-room coffee and tea making facilities.

Grounds and Gardens
Our garden, with its remarkable panoramic views, has level access from the lower terrace to the lawn which then slopes downwards to the SE and upwards to SW.
Additional Information
- Dogs are not permitted in the bedrooms, but may sleep in the boiler room by prior arrangement.
- There are 6 doors that may be used in an emergency. Evacuation would be conducted by the proprietors, should it be necessary. Please inform us if you have special requirements at time of booking.
- Ours is a no smoking establishment.
